We’re excited about this 2-day beachfront music festival because it’s the 1st major music festival ever on Santa Monica’s beach… & there are so many good artists from different genres: rock, indie, soul, & house! So there’s a little something for everyone!
The Ocean Way Festival is being produced by Goldenvoice, the same company behind Coachella & Stagecoach. There will be 2 stages located right on the sand between Santa Monica Pier & Bay Street. Parking might be a challenge, since it’s in such a densely-populated, heavily-trafficked area, but Goldenvoice is including complimentary shuttle service directly to the festival from the official off-site parking lot that will be provided! But hey, who needs to drive when you can arrive by Metro, shuttle, bicycle, or walking?
Why is it called the ‘Ocean Way Festival’?
If you’re familiar with Santa Monica, ‘Ocean Way’ is the beachfront street that runs parallel to the ocean along Santa Monica’s coastal neighborhood. So the festival is named in part for the street Ocean Way, which is also a reference to Allen Sides’ legendary recording studio that he opened in a 3.5-car garage on Ocean Way in 1968. Alan Sides has produced/engineered 400 albums for well-known artists including Phil Collins, Green Day, Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette, Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Wynonna Judd, Beck, Mary J. Blige, Joni Mitchell, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Zappa.
